Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-26. We collect as little as possible.
What we don't collect
- We do not require sign-up or accounts.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not ourselves store identifying user profiles or contact lists.
Analytics — Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate usage patterns — which generators are popular, where visitors come from, what devices they use. This helps us prioritize improvements. GA4 is configured with:
- IP anonymization enabled — your IP address is truncated before storage.
- Consent Mode v2 — we use GA4 Google Consent Mode v2 with
ad_storage,ad_user_data,ad_personalization, andanalytics_storageset to "denied" by default. This applies to both analytics and advertising (Google AdSense, see below). - Basic measurement only — page views, session duration, country, device type.
GA4 may set first-party cookies (typically _ga and _ga_*) for session attribution. These cookies expire after 2 years and contain anonymous identifiers — they cannot identify you personally.
Google's privacy practices apply to data collected via GA4. See Google Privacy Policy.
Opt out of analytics
You can opt out of GA tracking in multiple ways:
- Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Enable "Do Not Track" in your browser settings (we honor DNT).
- Use a privacy-focused browser (Brave, Firefox with strict mode) that blocks analytics by default.
- Use a content blocker (uBlock Origin, etc.).
Advertising — Google AdSense
This site is supported by advertising delivered via Google AdSense. We use AdSense to keep the generators free for everyone.
- Third-party cookies — Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Personalization is consent-gated — by default we set Google Consent Mode v2 to deny
ad_storageandad_personalization. Without explicit opt-in (where applicable), AdSense serves only non-personalized ads (contextual, not based on your behavior). - What AdSense may collect — IP address, browser/device info, viewed pages, and (with consent) cross-site identifiers used to personalize ads.
Opt out of personalized ads
Even without consenting on this site, you can additionally opt out of personalized ads via Google's tools:
- Manage at Google Ads Settings — turn off Ad Personalization across all Google properties and partners.
- Use the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool for US-based interest-based ads from many networks.
- Use the EU "Your Online Choices" page if you are in the EU/EEA.
- Block ad-related cookies via your browser or a content blocker (uBlock Origin, Brave Shields).
For more information on how Google uses data when you use partner sites and apps, see Google's "How Google uses data from sites and apps that use our services" and Google's Advertising Privacy & Terms.
What is collected automatically
Like all websites, our hosting provider logs basic request metadata: IP address, user agent, timestamp, URL requested. We do not retain these logs ourselves beyond standard server log rotation.
What you store locally (in your browser)
If you click "Save" on a generated name, it is stored in your browser's localStorage — never sent to our servers. Clear your browser data to remove it. Saved names are visible only to you on the device where you saved them.
AI-generated content
Our AI name generators (AI Name Generator, AI Business Name Generator) send your prompt text to an AI language model service for inference. Prompts are processed transiently and are not retained for training. We do not associate prompts with personal identifiers.
Domain availability check
On Business, Brand, and Company name generators, we check generated names against the RDAP registry (a public WHOIS replacement protocol) to display domain availability. Only the generated business name is sent to the RDAP service. No personal data is involved.
Affiliate disclosures
Some pages (Business, Brand, and Company name generators) may include affiliate links to domain registrars or branding services. We may earn a commission if you make a purchase through these links, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are tagged with rel="sponsored" per Google's guidelines. We choose affiliates based on usefulness for the generator's purpose — never paid placement that compromises recommendations.
Children
This site is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
If you are in the EU/EEA (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have rights regarding your personal data including access, rectification, erasure, and objection. To exercise these rights or ask questions, email info@name-generator.net.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a new "Last updated" date.
